As opposed to the other drivers that only come to
Jay started driving trucks at the early age of 16 and by the time he was 18 he already owned his personal truck. He is now 25 years old and he has been driving on the treacherous ice roads for 7 years. Despite his youth, he knows the ice roads better than any other driver. The more demanding loads are most of the times entrusted to him because of his experience.
Jay’s load count up to the latest episode (“The Big Melt”) was 440 tons, which means he earned $39,500.

Jay Westgard
As opposed to the other drivers that only come to Yellowknife for one season, Jay lives here all year long. During the warm months of spring, summer and autumn Jay operates a 2-story mining shovel at Diavik. But when winter comes he turns into one of the best and most respected ice road drivers around.

I really liked watching Ice Road Truckers on TV. When I am older I would like to go to Yellowknife and drive on the ice just like you.
Good luck for next season, I hope it is on the TV.

June 17th, 2008 at 3:07 pmHi again Jay……..PLEASE come back to Ice Road Truckers…..or let us know how we can follow your career! We found ourselves looking forward to watching your bravery on the ice roads every week …….You are greatly admired and we wish the best for YOU and your family. Again…….please come back…….the older guys are okay……at least Alex is…..(we liked his sense of humor) BUT……..no one compared to you……Best Wishes …..whatever you are doing. (Judy from Oregon)
June 23rd, 2008 at 12:57 amHey Jay, I’ll get to the point! In my humble opinion you were the primary reason as to why so many viewers were tuning in every week. It deeply saddens me as an avid “Jay” fan to find out that you weren’t coming back in season 2. You captivated the interest of all viewers. The History channel made an arkane mistake not including you in season 2. I would have much rather they brought you on instead of that Yahoo fellow Drew. With all this be said, I hope all is well with you and your family
Best of luck in your future endeavors.

July 1st, 2008 at 9:14 pmHey Jay, u r cool, the best trucker, and very very cute.
July 20th, 2008 at 2:35 amJay is one of my favorites. For such a young guy, he has his head on straight. Very mature with a strong work ethic and values. Hope to see you back on the ice roads next year. I can’t believe you and T.J. were not on this season. It is not the same. We need a mix of young and old. I’d rather see less of Rick and Drew (the high-maintenance troublemakers).
