Another day hauling on the ice road

steve
As opposed to the other drivers that only come to Yellowknife for one season, Jay lives here all year long. During the warm months of spring, summer and autumn Jay operates a 2-story mining shovel at Diavik. But when winter comes he turns into one of the best and most respected ice road drivers around.
Jay started driving trucks at the early age of 16 and by the time he was 18 he already owned his personal truck. He is now 25 years old and he has been driving on the treacherous ice roads for 7 years. Despite his youth, he knows the ice roads better than any other driver. The more demanding loads are most of the times entrusted to him because of his experience.
Jay’s load count up to the latest episode (“The Big Melt”) was 440 tons, which means he earned $39,500.
