Season 1, Episode 1: “Ready to Roll”

This is the first episode of the first season, or the season premiere. We see how the employees of Nuna Logistics work hard to construct the ice road as the ice needs to be defined and strengthened. The ice road is approximately 350 miles or 563 kilometers long and it passes over permafrost and frozen lakes. We also get to meet the six truck drivers that will be filmed while they haul important equipment and supplies from Yellowknife to three diamond mines which are found to the NE of Yellowknife.

Highlights:

  • Drew Sherwood, the newbie of the team, manages to crash his eighteen-wheeler in a ditch.
  • T.J. Tilcox, a 21 years old truck driver from Hillsburgh, Ontario, makes his maiden voyage on the ice road.
  • A truck jackknifes and halts the traffic.
